Application for a Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) in compliance with MiFID II

Abstract:

This practice memo describes the legal and practical considerations in regards to the acquisition of a Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) in light of the implementation of the new Directive European Directive MiFID II, which governs European Capital Markets and is transposed into the Cypriot national legal order. It includes inter alia, reference to the legal background of this requirement, the practical requirements such as who needs to comply with the obligations and what needs to be reported, the process, the relevant documents, indicative fees and other relevant matters. It goes further to include an elaborate step plan of the aforementioned process together with a description of the relevant documentation.
